Mitochondrial Biomarkers in Patients with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction and Their Potential Prognostic Implications: A Prospective Observational Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Mitochondrial biomarkers have been investigated in different critical settings, including ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Whether they provide prognostic information STEMI, complementary to troponins, has not fully elucidated. We prospectively explored the in-hospital and long-term implications of cytochrome c cell-free mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) STEMI patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention. Methods: measured mtDNA at admission 466 patients. Patients were grouped according detection: group 1 (?/?; no biomarker detected; n = 28); 2 (?/+; only one 283); 3 (+/+; both 155). A composite mortality, cardiogenic shock, acute pulmonary edema was endpoint. Four-year all-cause mortality secondary Results: Progressively lower left ventricular ejection fractions (52 ± 8%, 49 47 9%; p 0.006) higher troponin I peaks (54 44, 73 66, 106 81 ng/mL; 0.001) found across groups. An increase (4%, 14%, 19%; 0.03) (10%, 15%, 23%; 0.02) endpoint rate observed going from 3. The adjusted odds ratio increment next 1.65 (95% CI 1.04–2.61; 0.03), while hazard 1.55 1.12–2.52; 0.03). addition study allocation reclassified 12% 22% for endpoint, respectively. Conclusions: Detection is common seems be associated with outcome independently troponin.

Prognostic implications of stress hyperglycemia in acute ST elevation myocardial infarction. Prospective observational study.
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES In patients with acute myocardial infarction, elevation of plasma glucose levels is associated with worse outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between stress hyperglycemia and in-hospital mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction with ST-segment elevation (STEMI). METHODS We analyzed 834 consecutive patients admitted for STEM...
متن کاملComparison of bioavailability and antiplatelet action of ticagrelor in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction and non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction: A prospective, observational, single-centre study
BACKGROUND Data from available studies suggest that the presence of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) may be associated with delayed and attenuated ticagrelor bioavailability and effect compared with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). METHODS In a single-center, prospective, observational trial 73 patients with myocardial infarction (STEMI n = 49, NSTEMI n = 24) underwe...
متن کاملStudy of the Duration, Outcomes, and Related Factors of Reperfusion Therapy in Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction
Background and Objective: One of the most important advancements regarding the care of patients with acute myocardial infarction is the administration of anti-coagulation medicines (e.g., streptokinase). However, it must be noticed that this medicine requires rapid and timely administration. Moreover, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is increasingly used as a method of revascularization...

OBJECTIVES To investigate factors predicting the onset of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) . BACKGROUND Apelin-12 plays an essential role in cardiovascular homoeostasis. However, current knowledge of its predictive prognostic value is limited. METHODS 464 p...

Objective: Heparin and enoxaparin possess anti-inflammatory properties. We compared the effects of these drugs on inflammatory biomarkers in patients with ST-segment Elevated Myocardial Infarction (STEMI). Method: Thirty four patients with STEMI randomly separated in two groups and received standard doses of heparin and enoxaparin. The serum concentration of Serum Amyloid A (SAA), C-Reactive Pr...
